Shelton W. Morris, Sr.

Shelton W. Morris, Sr. was born on July 19th, 1965, in Neptune, N.J. He is one of eight siblings: six older sisters, one younger sister, and one younger brother. Shelton grew up in Asbury Park, N.J., in a very musical family. He was the Vice President of his High School Band and received a Musician Scholarship as a Saxophonist to Delaware State College in 1983, where he became a member of Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity Inc. Shelton married Barbara, his high school sweetheart, in March of 1985, and is the father of three, Terrell, Junior, and Ja’Karee, who is his adopted grandson. Shelton proudly served in the United States Air Force from March 1985 to March 1991, then moved to Gainesville, FL after his honorable discharge.
Shelton became a member of The Church of the Kingdom of God, Extension #5 Gainesville, FL in September 1992 under Pastor Alvin B. Jackson, Jr, where he served as a Sunday School teacher. He was called to the ministry in 1994 under the leadership of Pastor Kim L. Garrison. Minister Morris attended The Church of the Kingdom of God Ministers Training Course and went through a three-year walkthrough to become an Ordained Elder in September 1998. In 1999, Elder Shelton Morris, Sr. was a humble recipient of The General Sunday School Departments Nemiah Atkins Teacher of the Year Award.
Elder Shelton Morris, Sr. served in various capacities over the years: A driver of the Van Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, Minister’s Course Instructor, Minister of Music, Sunday School Superintendent, President of the local Men’s Department, Financial Treasurer and Associate Pastor of the Gainesville Extension. Before his appointment to The Church of the Kingdom of God, Extension #7 in Palatka, FL, Associate Pastor Morris faithfully served at the Gainesville extension for Twenty-one years and was selected as a member of the Board of Elders in 2017, where he still serves as an active board member.
Pastor Morris completed the Bishop Seminary Catechism, at Celebration of Praise Ministries, Inc., under Archbishop QS Caldwell and Bishop Alvin Freeland in August 2023, and shortly following, he became an Ordained Bishop, at The Church of the Kingdom of God, Inc., in October 2023 under the leadership of the Presiding Prelate Dr. Ira Presley, Jr. Bishop Morris is a humble and faithful man of God, who genuinely has a heart for God’s people.
